What Is CrissWord: Full Circle?
CrissWord: Full Circle is a free daily word puzzle that challenges you to follow a path of words from the first word to the last — with a twist. The first word and the last word always belong to the same category. You come full circle.
Every word in the path is connected to the next by a specific transformation called an action. Your job is to fill in the middle words, using the clues and the actions as your guide.
It sounds simple. It is not always simple. And that's exactly why it's so satisfying.
How to Play
Each puzzle is a chain. The first word and the last word are always revealed upfront — they both belong to the same category, and that's your circle. In between are hidden words, each linked to the next by a specific letter transformation. You get a short clue for every hidden word.
Here's a real puzzle:
????? ← ordinal number
│
▼ Remove 1 Letter
???? ← "clenched hand"
│
▼ Change 1 Letter
???? ← "school subject, ___ory"
│
▼ Find Anagram
???? ← "dark side warrior"
│
▼ Add 1 Letter
????? ← ordinal number
You know every transformation in the chain. You have a clue for each gap. Work through it step by step:
- FIRST → remove one letter → FIST (clenched hand) ✓
- FIST → change one letter → HIST (school subject — history) ✓
- HIST → rearrange the letters → SITH (dark side warrior) ✓
- SITH → add one letter → SIXTH ✓
Each connector in the chain lights up green the moment a word-pair is valid — so you get real-time feedback as you go, without waiting until you've filled in every blank. Solve the last step and confetti comes down.
The circle closes because FIRST and SIXTH share the same category: ordinal numbers. Every puzzle ties the two ends together like this.
The Four Actions
Between every pair of words in the path, one of four transformations applies:
| Action | What It Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Change 1 Letter | Swap exactly one letter | HEAT → HEAD |
| Find Anagram | Rearrange the same letters | CARS → ARCS |
| Add 1 Letter | Insert one new letter anywhere | HEAT → CHEAT |
| Remove 1 Letter | Drop one letter from the word | CHEAT → HEAT |
The genius of these four rules is that they interact. A harder puzzle might go: anagram → remove → change → add → anagram. Each step narrows your options, but also gives you handholds to climb from what you know toward what you don't.
Why It's Genuinely Different From Other Word Games
Most word puzzle games test one thing: your vocabulary. CrissWord: Full Circle tests vocabulary, spelling intuition, lateral thinking, and pattern recognition all at once.
You're not just thinking of words. You're thinking of words that:
- Match the clue
- Are the right length (or within one letter)
- Satisfy the exact transformation from the word above and below
That triangulation is what makes the puzzle feel rewarding. When you finally see it — when GRAPE → GRATE → RATE → TEAR → PEAR locks into place — it clicks in a way that other word games just don't.
And the circle? That's the magic. Knowing that both ends share the same category (like "a fruit" or "a Pixar film") gives you an anchor to work from in both directions if you get stuck.
Fresh Puzzle Every Day
Like the best daily games, CrissWord: Full Circle releases a new puzzle every single day. Each one has a theme that ties the two end words together — anything from body parts and soda brands to numbers and trees.
Missed a day? No problem. The full archive of past puzzles is always available to play, so you can catch up on your own schedule.
Keep your streak alive by solving the daily puzzle each day. The game tracks your consecutive days, giving you a quiet reason to come back tomorrow.
Score, Compete, and Share
Every completed puzzle earns you a score out of 100%. Your score reflects how cleanly you solved it:
- Fewer revealed answers → higher score
- Fewer hints used → higher score
- Hard Mode (hide answer lengths) → maximum bragging rights
Once you finish, you can copy your result and share it in one tap:

Play Both Ways
Feeling confident? Flip the puzzle and play it in reverse — starting from the last word and working backwards. Every action automatically mirrors itself (an "Add" becomes a "Remove"), so the puzzle is fully valid in either direction.
It's the same puzzle. It's not the same experience.
Hints, But Not Cheats
Stuck on a word? You can ask for a hint. The hint system is designed to nudge you, not hand you the answer:
- If a neighbouring word is correct and connected by a "Change" action, the hint shows you the word with only the differing position masked
- If it's an "Add" action, you see the longer word with the inserted letter hidden
- Otherwise, you get one random letter revealed — enough to unstick your thinking, not enough to spoil the fun
You can also reveal a word outright if you're truly stuck, but it costs you on your score. The game is honest about what that costs, and it keeps track.
Hard Mode
When you play in Hard Mode — by sliding answer lengths off in settings — you lose the number of letters shown under each clue. No safety net. No shortcuts. Just the clue, the action, and your brain.
It's a noticeably harder experience that flips even mid-difficulty puzzles into something genuinely challenging. Finish one clean and you've earned the 🛡️ Hard Mode badge.
